Hey folks - for those who work in live events - I’m wondering what are your favorite ticket platforms to use these days to host your tickets?
I feel like Eventbrite is not king anymore. Lots of small gatherings are using Partiful but I’m not sure that’s appropriate for venues that need event calendars with multiple ticket sites. I’m curious if there’s a favorite platform being used in the hudson valley these days
I like Splash a lot, but I deeply miss the search function on Eventbrite. https://splashthat.com/platform/ticketing
Yea the Eventbrite discovery marketplace & SEO is pretty unmatched
looks like Unicorn bar in Kingston uses Viewcy
Checkout luma! Seeing most tech companies using this now https://lu.ma/
Love Luma! And I used it for a kids birthday party. Every tired parent brain lit up with how clean it was.
my wife is an event technology planner email her if you like <mailto:[email protected]|[email protected]>
This usage is for public events for a live entertainment venue. So it’s important to us to look at platforms that are used by other live events venues in the hudson valley
Discoverability of events (like what Eventbrite excels at) is more important for this use case than features & tech
Hey everyone, if you’re looking for speed dating and other social events, check out my IG page: @letsmeetny

I've been programming WTF Wednesday at the Rosendale Theatre for five months now, and was literally in the middle of announcing Wild At Heart as my next screening when I found out David Lynch died.
I'm frequently asked if there's anything I miss about Austin, and the list is honestly pretty small, but just under HEB is Weird Wednesday at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz (may she rest in peace).
One of my all time favorite theatrical experiences was a sold out Weird Wednesday screening of Eraserhead on 35mm with the sound cranked up to the level David Lynch demanded, just below causing permanent damage.
There was something really special about being in a packed theater with 150 other weirdos at 10pm on a Wednesday night watching a particularly antagonistic movie that I think nearly everyone there had some sort of intense personal connection to.
Last month there was a write-up of my Big Trouble In Little China screening that ended with "And what a treat that it’s freed from home movie hell for once."
That pretty much sums up my whole programming ethos. Sure you could watch any of these movies on Tubi, or in a bunch of eight minute chunks on YouTube, but movies were meant to be watched in a theater, on a big screen, with intelligible sound, and an audience of people capable of turning off their phones and shutting the fuck up for a couple of hours.
It's been a privilege getting to put on these screenings and provide people with an opportunity to experience them as intended.
I hope you'll come out on Feb 5 for Wild At Heart. I can't think of a better way to honor David Lynch's memory than to go see one of his movies at an arthouse cinema with a bunch of other weirdos on a weekday night.
WTF Wednesday Presents: Wild At Heart Wednesday, Feb 5 Doors & Preshow: 7pm Screening: 7:30pm $10 Members/$6 General Tickets: tix.rosendaletheatre.org/wildatheart
Rob- love your WTF Wednesdays!!!!!
Perfect post, perfect movie. I used to run around my HS saying “This here’s my snakeskin jacket…” And my dad was fond of saying “One day maybe I will, but baby I gotta go!”
OMG HEB and the Alamo Ritz (and weird wednesday!) mentioned in a paragraph about David Lynch’s passing. You know how to market to a recent Austin transplant. I will be there (and it’s on my birthday). Finally made it down the theater (we are up in Woodstock) to see Flow this last weekend.
Greetings fellow Texpat! The Austin to HV pipeline is real and it is bustling.
I'm glad you were able to come out for Flow. I also do most of the animation programming for the theater and have some very fun repertory screenings planned for the coming months.
Agreed! I was remarking to Jordan at one of the meetups that the HV reminds me a bit of Austin back in the day (was there for 25 years).
Hey folks!! I hope you all can come dance/skate/vibe into this Aquarian season with us at Skate Time in Accord NY 🥳 🛼 Next Saturday 1/25 from 5pm-10pm

hi User, you wrote 5pm, but I think it starts at 6pm today. The graphic you posted also shows 6pm. Thanks to correct or confirm!
Thanks for calling that our User. Yes, I believe it does start at 6pm.
I didn't write 5pm so I suspect that Slack is pulling the data from the Eventbrite page directly which does list 5pm. User, that might be something to be aware of. 😉
it got shifted from 6pm to 5pm because of snow forecasted a little later. 🙂
OK, cool. I'll be there for 5pm!! User and User
Hey, thanks for catching this, User! I shifted the time forward to 5pm so anyone who’s wary of the snow can still come and leave early, but you’re welcome to show up any time.
We’ve got 240 RSVPs, which is almost our record… it should be an awesome crowd!
Sounds amazing User - bummed I’m missing this one!

Hey everyone, if you’re looking to grow your network and make solid business connections throughout the Hudson Valley (without leaving your desk), I’d love to invite you to check out my BNI group.
We’ve all been to networking events that felt more like a hostage situation but I promise you - this BNI group is different.
We meet virtually every Tuesday (via zoom)—so no travel time, no scrambling to find parking, and no disruption to your workday. It’s early (7AM), but we’re always done by 8:30AM, so you can start your day on time with a few new connections in your corner.
It’s a great way to build relationships, share referrals, and actually help each other grow. And, visiting is totally free.
If you’re curious, let me know—I’d love to introduce you to the group! Worst case? You meet some great people and still have time for another coffee before your first meeting.
All I need is your email and the date you’d like to visit to get you all set up.
Hope to see some of you there soon!
Hey y'all, tomorrow night is the special Oscars Edition WTF Wednesday screening of THE SUBSTANCE at the Rosendale Theatre.
While, sure, you could watch it at home on Mubi, this is a movie that deserves to be seen with an audience, loud as hell, on a big screen.
As Golden Globe-winner and Academy Award Best Actress-nominee Demi Moore said in her appearance on Hot Ones:
> When asked what the greatest shift in entertainment she’s witnessed in her career has been, Moore said, “I think it would be the loss of the cinema experience." > > “we’re moving towards too much isolation” and we need spaces that allow us to come together. > > “I think it’s our communal experience that allows us to connect with one another, when we have those shared experiences,” said Moore. “And while I truly love streaming and appreciate it and think that there is an aspect that’s quite additive for all of us, I hope that we can find a middle ground with bringing us all back to the theater, to really not lose that.” > Don't make Demi Moore cry a single tear, and don't miss out on your chance to see some Oscar-caliber body horror on the big screen!

February was a big month for WTF Wednesday, with a sold out screening of David Lynch's Wild at Heart, and a special Oscars edition screening of The Substance.
This month we're celebrating Bruce Willis' 70th birthday with a screening of one of my all time favorites, THE FIFTH ELEMENT!
In the 23rd century, a New York City cabbie, Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), finds the fate of the world in his hands when Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) falls into his cab. As the embodiment of the fifth element, Leeloo needs to combine with the other four to keep the approaching Great Evil from destroying the world. Together with Father Vito Cornelius (Ian Holm) and zany broadcaster Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker), Dallas must race against time and the wicked industrialist Zorg (Gary Oldman) to save humanity.
Come watch this cult classic, space opera (featuring literal space opera!) on the big screen!
Come early for the preshow, starting at 7pm!
