Hi Mike, thanks for hosting this event. I will not be able to make it, but would want colleagues/peers to know about what the Cosmos Institute is doing with GenAI and human flourishing. I have been collaborating with a researcher/developer who was accepted to their Oxford program on how GenAI needs to be coded (or what Cosmos would call philosophy-to-code) to value youth (ie children) as its central framework. https://cosmos-institute.org
Very cool, thanks Danny!

Hi All---Some further information about the "AI in practice" discussion group happening Thursday, Nov 7 6-9pm at Barnfox Kingston (see above):
- There will be an opportunity to show-and-tell. We will have a screen set up that you can use if desired.
- Your show-and-tell could be something you scribbled on a napkin and took a picture of on your phone. That's about the level I expect to bring myself!
- You can also show off things that aren't yours, like if you are just really exited about a tool that has been working for you.
- We can also discuss topics like, "I have this thing, I think integrating AI into it could help somehow, but I really don't know how!" Or "I read this thing about machine learning and it's really great!"
- We'll probably play around a bit with Chatbot Arena and Text to Image Arena .
- This is meant to be a recurring (monthly?) group. We'll discuss whether and how to make it more organized going forward. If you can't make it, we'll hope to see you next time! You don't need to RSVP, but you will need a door code to get in. So DM me to get that.
Does anyone want 2 tickets Tickets given away, but still available to see “Ambient Country: SUSS” at The Local in Saugerties tonight (Friday, Nov. 1)? My wife and I crossed messages on going out, so long story short, these tickets need a home. The description is what drew me in: “What would it sound like if ambient pioneer Brian Eno had produced the Western film scores of Ennio Morricone? We’ll never know, but we’re now a step closer thanks to SUSS, a New York City based ambient country trio who have worked in various capacities with Lydia Lunch, the B-52s, Rubber Rodeo, k.d. Lang, David Bowie, John Cale, Ed Sheeran, Wilco, Norah Jones, The War On Drugs, Burt Bacharach, and countless others.” Hit me up and I will send you the tickets.
👋 Hello, team! I will be co- facilitating a Winter Wellness Event at Bodhi Spa and Yoga(543 Warren St, Hudson, NY 12534) on Nov 15th. 6p-8p. Light snacks and tea will be served. RSVP Required: Call: <tel:5188282233|(518) 828-2233>
There’s also this event in Newburgh on the 14th! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cuffing-season-speed-dating-friending-at-toasted-tickets-1042914474267?utm_experiment=test_share_listing&aff=ebdsshios
Thank you so much for sharing!!!
As an FYI, this event is postponed to Friday, Dec. 6th! Much love
She’s a GREAT facilitator: at another speed dating event of hers I went to, she started with facilitating a group conversation to get people comfortable, a couple ice breaker activities in small groups, a couple grouping questions (cat people v dog people etc), and THEN did the traditional 1:1 convos. And even with those- each round she gave a suggested question you could talk about. Finally, she gave everyone the choice to express interest in friendship or romantic partnership or both with each person there, so the event automatically doubled as a “friending” event as well. 10/10 highly recommend
Awwww!!! Thank you for these kind words! 💜
I find the 1:1 conversations so intimidating to start, so we warm up and focus on mutual interest and shared desires so that when we connect for the speed dating/friending portion we have things to talk about!!
Hope to see y'all there! Dm's are open for any questions. Much love!

Lessons from the Love Lab: The Science of Successful Relationships
Tue, Nov 19 @ 6:30 PM Beahive Beacon
Advice from relationship coach Peter McFadden, based on research and training from the world’s leading marriage researcher, Dr. John Gottman.
Peter is highlighted in this week’s “5 Questions” feature in our local nonprofit, award-winning paper The Highlands Current.
A former specialist in nuclear arms control for the State Department, he shares how he organized the world’s largest dance in the Czech and Slovak Republic, the Super Macarena, to get the 67,000 communist-ruled Slovakians to talk to each other.
That led to a fateful encounter with Pope John Paul II that later inspired him to counsel married couples.
> “I grew up with such a simple vision of marriage: You become a good person, meet a good person, live happily ever after. Then my brother’s wife threw a frying pan at him. My brother’s a good guy: hard-working, faithful, doesn’t drink. I remember thinking, ‘If he can get a frying pan thrown at him, I could get one thrown at me.’ But after meeting the pope and reading his book, I figured I was ready for marriage.” Space is limited and free RSVP is requested: <https://bit.ly/lovelab11-19>.

Hi folks! I have a show this Saturday night 11/23 8pm at Beahive in Beacon, NY! It’s called Ears With Eyes Presents: A Mandatory Meeting. The show is about corporate culture, workaholism, burnout and mental health wherein two overworked burnt-out corporate workers dissociate into feral humans. It’s music, performance art, absurdist comedy and has a punk ethos. Think Andy Kaufman meets Tim and Eric meets Iggy Pop. Tickets are $10 or $15 at the door.

✨ Holiday Healing Reset: Reiki Mini Sessions ✨
Join us this Saturday, November 30th 12-3pm at Kelta Wellness Center in Beacon!
"Normally it's really difficult for me to turn my brain off, but during our session, I was able to experience true stillness and like my inner dialogue wasn't taking over." One of my clients shared this with me recently. The goal of my reiki sessions isn't to force you into relaxation, but simply shifting the energy that's got you all wound up and allowing your mind and body to return to a natural state of balance and calm. As we near the end of the year and get into the holiday season, it's so easy to get swept up and feel your mind racing with all the added responsibilities, pressure, and other people's energy. That's why l'm offering Holiday Healing Reset mini reiki sessions at Kelta this Saturday — so that you can have space for yourself, settle into a more peaceful baseline from which you can actually enJOY what's to come with more presence and ease, and less intensity and overwhelm. If this is what you desire, l'd love to see you there. 🖤 Spots are limited so reserve yours now: http://bit.ly/HolidayHealingReset-Kelta

Yeah, no one knows it really started in '85 though.

Hey folks - for those who work in live events - I’m wondering what are your favorite ticket platforms to use these days to host your tickets?
I feel like Eventbrite is not king anymore. Lots of small gatherings are using Partiful but I’m not sure that’s appropriate for venues that need event calendars with multiple ticket sites. I’m curious if there’s a favorite platform being used in the hudson valley these days
I like Splash a lot, but I deeply miss the search function on Eventbrite. https://splashthat.com/platform/ticketing
Yea the Eventbrite discovery marketplace & SEO is pretty unmatched
looks like Unicorn bar in Kingston uses Viewcy
Checkout luma! Seeing most tech companies using this now https://lu.ma/
Love Luma! And I used it for a kids birthday party. Every tired parent brain lit up with how clean it was.
my wife is an event technology planner email her if you like <mailto:[email protected]|[email protected]>
This usage is for public events for a live entertainment venue. So it’s important to us to look at platforms that are used by other live events venues in the hudson valley
Discoverability of events (like what Eventbrite excels at) is more important for this use case than features & tech
Hey everyone, if you’re looking for speed dating and other social events, check out my IG page: @letsmeetny

The AI in Practice group is screening The Thinking Game, a follow-up documentary to AlphaGo (2017).
Thursday, January 23rd, 6pm-9pm at Barnfox Kingston
The Thinking Game had its premier at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2024, but hasn’t been widely released. You can see a trailer for it here: <https://rocofilms.com/films/the-thinking-game/> . The film follows Google DeepMind and Demis Hassabis, especially focusing on AlphaFold and their quest to develop AGI. AlphaGo is the film that got me excited about the current generation of AI and I’m super pumped that we’re able to screen this.
There will be time for discussion and socializing after the film.
You can register for the event here: <https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-thinking-game-screening-and-discussion-tickets-1135486232889?aff=oddtdtcreator> . Tickets are free, but we need to know how many people to expect, so please sign up!

Preshow starts at 7 Screening starts at 7:30
hoping to make this, as this is a movie I loved, and I haven’t seen it in ages. Also, having just moved here from Austin and knowing Out Youth from there makes me even more motivated. 🙂
