Oh it’s def something I had to get used to- very different than the city and much less access to good quality health care
I don’t have much recco but have learned that it’s easier to see docs who belong to the same group. The big ones up here are Nuvance, Optum, Premier..
I personally have OneMedical (used to be its own thing before Amazon acquired it) and you get unlimited and quick medical care (basic stuff that aren’t super urgent) via their app. Once a PA or nurse answers your question (usually within 2 hours), they might have you schedule a remote visit with a doctor (plenty to choose from since it’s not in office) or get an in person appointment which won’t be local. The closest OneMedical office is in Westchester. Anyway, it’s just an option for you to consider, but def not local. And it really has its pros and cons.

I’m a big fan of Cushion for a one-person operation. Simple, intuitive design without bloated features. I only stopped using it because I needed to track time & invoices with other people.

Chad, I was a big fan and regular user of Toggl Track for time tracking - robust and inexpensive with automatic app use tracking available on devices. I use QuickBooks Online separately for invoicing, with web payments via Square and Stripe. QuickBooks does support time-tracking natively; I haven't tried it and it may cost extra.
Yeah, I was gonna say Toggl. Enough features without the bloat and you can send visual reports on how you spent your time.

I also use Webflow, Wordpress, etc. for more complex/custom sites, but Squarespace is easy for my clients to maintain and more affordable to have someone like myself create. I run a firm that specializes in this- for an artist I’d recommend doing a landing page in ghost or framer. You probably don’t need a full site and I wouldn’t shell out for a cms. Feel free to dm if you’d like!

Just FYI for anyone who might find this info useful but we booked a car using ANN transportation based in LaGrangeville and it was REALLY expensive $800 for drop off and pick up for 2 people plus a baby and maybe 5 pieces of luggage. It was a large size SUV and we got the same driver both ways. It was door to terminal so it’s nice to just hop off/on and don’t have to walk too far especially with the baby. But $400 for a 2hr drive?
So if there’s another option that’s cheaper, we’d def like to explore!

Honestly: Sometimes for flights, I take the train from Hudson ($30-$50) then the LIRR ($11) to Jamaica and transfer at the Airtrain to JFK. I’m in Athens. Cheapest option if you don’t have a lot of stuff with you. Also like reducing my carbon footprint when I can
I commonly do Amtrak from Poughkeepsie to Moynihan then to EWR. Sadly there are less options going back.
Going from the valley to jfk takes forever on public transit, granted sometimes it’s the only option.

When my husband travelled solo, he also used the MetroNorth to Subway or bus before. But with a young baby and luggages for a month-long trip, it’s nearly impossible to train it down to JFK.

🙏 I’m conducting some interesting customer research for one of my healthcare clients and need help finding research participants.
🔎 I’m looking to conduct a 45-min long 1:1 virtual interviews with people working in financial services or fintech who are close to the decision-making process of choosing which healthcare benefits to offer to your employees or who influence the types of healthcare benefits your employer offers.
These folks should be close to things like deciding whether or not to offer employee benefits for things like women’s and family healthcare (e.g. IVF/IUI, adoption services, support for new parents) and mid-life care (e.g. career coaching, balancing family and work-life priorities). Additionally, insight into which companies are chosen to provide these types of benefits to your employees, and why, is helpful. The participants should be from companies with at least 500 employees, and ideally larger companies with thousands of employees.

Hola chicos! I use Slack with an marketing agency as a contractor, and I like show when I'm not available to work/reply. For example: Ideally I love for someone sending me a message receive an automatic reply when I'm not available. Kinda like email automatic responses. Beside changing my status on a daily basis, is there another solution, like a plug-in? A search online found a couple of apps (Vacation Tracker and Clockwise). Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏
I believe that if you connect your calendar to slack it can show when you're busy assuming you have an event on your calendar. Maybe that could help?
It is possible for Slack to do an automatic reply but needs to be an Enterprise plan. The alternative is as you described, connecting to a calendar. However, it doesn't create an automatic response.

A large group of parents here in HV are trying to do some collective organizing and have drafted a letter of demands. We were hoping an attorney could give it a quick once over and see if we are ok from a legal perspective.
Apparently a civil litigation or nonprofit law attorney would be best. Any references though would be awesome if they’d be willing to do a quick scan.
